"American Lynx" by Peter Darro

"American Lynx" by Peter Darro

( - 1997). Original oil on canvas; 24" x 30". Framed. Lynx in autumn forest. Peter’s studio was in Chicago and, unlike many, was a painter since boyhood, later being recognized as a designated official American Field Hall or Fame artist, a member of the eminent Society of Animal Artists. As a portrait painter, his ability to transmit the essential character of a subject, won him national fame.

He painted Senator Everett and Mrs. Dirksen for the Dirksen Memorial Library and Rachel Carson (author of ā€œSilent Springā€ )for the National Wildlife Hall of Fame. In murals, a major achievement is his 120' mural at the Grandview State Bank in Illinois. We acquired the balance of the paintings hanging in Peter's studio of which this is one. We went over his client list, which was "impressive" to say the least, with all paintings selling direct, not through a gallery.

PERIOD: Mid 20th Century

ORIGIN: Illinois, United States

SIZE: 24" x 30"
