(1832 - 1900). Watercolor; 28" x 19", frame 29" x 38". Born in Cleveland, OH; western genre painter; studied under portrait painter Goerge Baker at the NA. Specialized in the portraits of government notable of the Civil War period, many of whom resided in New York & Washington DC; made several Western trips. Painting on display in the Oakland Museum. Well framed and matted.
