Nu-chah-nulth Chief Shakes Model Totem

This model totem pole is a Nuu-chah-nulth interpretation of the iconic Tlingit Chief Shake's Raven Pole of Wrangell, Alaska. The pole tells a story of how Raven stole the sun, moon and stars from his grandfather. The totem depicts, from top, Raven's grandfather in a woven hat, the box the sun was kept in, Raven's mother, Raven as a human child in her chest, Raven in bird form, and human. The pole is mounted on a round cut spruce for a base. There is a very rare sticker on the verson that reads "The Wigwam/314 Granville Street/Vancouver/Canada/Indian Goods…/Souvenirs." 13"
