Nuu-chah-Nulth totem pole, circa 1920-30. This older Nuu-chah-nulth model pole features a Bird with ear crests, an inverted Killer Whale, and a Mask, mounted on a chamfered base.

This pole is carved in cedar and painted in blue, red, and black paints. The style of carving (especially the Killer Whale and the ā€œledgeā€ on the brow of the Mask) and the almond-shaped eyes and painting (especially around the eyes of the Mask and the mustache) are diagnostic features of Nuu-chah-nulth model poles from the 1920s and 1930s.

Old, period-correct white and red label on the back with some indistinct writing. 10"H
