Nicely carved, two-figure Nuu-chah-nulth pole that features Raven wearing a woven hat over a human. 9"H
The imagery of Raven in the woven hat became a popular motif among Nuu-chah-nulth carvers in the 1920s and 1930s because of the popularity of the Tlingit Chief Shakeās Raven Pole with tourists. On Shakeās pole, the top figure is a raven wearing a woven hat. Nuu-chah-nulth and Ditidaht carvers working in curio shops made the image nearly ubiquitous in carvings from the period.
